Redefining the definition of Peace

In the vicinity of Yoga conflicting tendencies dissolve – Yoga Sutra of Patanjali

As everything born into language, the term 'peace' could be interpreted variously depending on the context applied. Yet from basic human perspective Peace represents resolution of an outer conflict and ultimately speaking the absence of the inner one. The history of our civilization by large is a history of 'War and Peace', and could even be viewed as universal straggle between the forces that stand in opposition to each other. Albeit that's not a perspective which equips us with understanding needed for proper foundation if we are to live in harmony with each other and with life on the Planet as a whole.

What if peace, as the absence of conflict out there, is a reflection of the inner reality of each and everyone of us, where equilibrium or lack of it acts as a catalyst in tipping off or keeping universal balance in tact? What if a timeless wisdom expressed in the Yoga Sutra – where Yoga stands for unifying quality of consciousness – is the key to the lasting peace within and without?
