Welcome TRAIL RUNNERS!
We run on the dirt and in the trees. Why? Trail running is...FUN, less impact on the body because you're running on softer surfaces, utilizes more muscles groups so you get stronger, balance and agility improves, mentally stimulating, a great way to connect with nature, and you're having so much fun you want to keep on running!
We schedule group runs every weekend, night runs, morning runs, weekly interval and hill workouts and meet for races. Although we are a trail running club who trains on trails, we do race in road races, too! Most trail runs are on Folsom and Granite Bay area trails with occasional weekend trails runs in Auburn. For the trail racing enthusiast, join us for trail racing, including the Bay Area PCTR races, Tahoe, and our own local Folsom Trail Run Series (www.breakoutracing.com) If you want to know where and how often we run, check out the schedule of past meet ups.
Meet runners who share similar running goals and schedules, whether the goal is to improve fitness, race a 5k or ultra distance event; the Folsom Trail Runners has a diverse group of members from beginners to ultra distance runners. Training with us will help improve your form, distance, pace and you'll be more motivated to go beyond your comfort zone and run distances you never dreamed of! We are your support team!
We hold occasional Trail Runner 101 meet ups for an educational Q&A session from training to nutrition from professional and certified guest speakers.
It's time to hit one of our favorite trails again! AT NIGHT!!!
The parking lot at Brown's Ravine closes early so we'll park/meet on the wide shoulders of Sophia Pkwy just south of Green Valley Rd (Free - legal parking), then we'll walk across Green Valley Rd to the trail.[/b]
The Brown's Ravine Trail is mostly curvy, hilly singletrack (through the trees) with no really long, sustained hills. Read more
