Good morning to all our Footprints OC Playgroup Families!
You asked for it! We listened! Over the course of the last year, we have had multiple families request for us to develop a social skills group for our kiddos! We are excited to announce that beginning in Jan 2014 we will be officially launching our Footprints Social Skills Program in partnership with Pretend City Children's Museum!
Our social skills programs will be developed and directed by our Board Certified Behavior Analysts and held on site at Pretend City! We will be having focused small group sessions held in our designated social skills classroom and then work on generalizing skills learned to the natural Pretend City play environment while integrating typically developing peers!
As a part of our program development process, we are thrilled to invite you to RSVP for our free social skill screening held this Friday, October 4th at Pretend City. We will be hosting a series of social skills groups and are looking for children between the ages of 4-6 years old to participate in our 4-week pilot before our official January 2014 launch.
Participation in the 4-week pilot project is fully funded by Footprints Behavioral Intervention and children selected to participate in this group social skills training will be offered individualized training and social skills facilitation at no cost.
Once our complete program is launched in January 2014, we will open enrollment to different age groups ranging from 3-10 years of age. Funding for our social skills program will then be provided your private insurance. Your child's selection for participation will be determined the social skills screening as our clinicians are seeking to identify a small cohort of children who would be appropriately matched for our initial pilot group.
Hence, we are looking for children with availability to participate in the social skills training for the following days:
Wednesday, Oct , 16, 23, and 30th from 1:00 - 3:00/4:00pm
Due to limited enrollment in our pilot project, if you are interested in signing up for the free screening held this Friday, October 4th, please send an email directly to [masked] to set up your appointment and to complete an initial pre-screening questionnaire.
Once your appointment for our social skills screening is confirmed, please allow for 1hr to complete the interview, assessment, and observation portion of your child's social skills screening.
For families with typically developing siblings within the same age range, we are also recruiting age appropriate peers to volunteer to be involved in both our social skills pilot study as well as when our program is fully launched in January!
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
All the best,
Director of Outreach Programs & Clinical Coordinator
