Lyme Preparedness for Outdoor Enthusiasts with Herbalist Carol Jacobs

Have you taken an active role in becoming knowledgeable about Lyme Disease? What are you doing to protect yourself ? Do you have a game plan about what to do if and when you get bitten by a tick?

Join Minnesota Herbalist Carol Jacobs for a discussion and outdoor walk focused on Lymes understanding, preparedness, prevention, and after-bite care.

In these Lyme Times planning ahead makes sense. Understanding Lyme can be confusing - information in the media doesn’t always match what we see and experience. For example, Fall and early Winter are active times for ticks despite what we may have been told. Lyme awareness & preparation is more than tick ID - it includes immune system supports plus gathering & preparing herbs for both prevention & after-bite care.

We'll start indoors to talk, listen and learn and then head outdoors where Carol will help identify plants with an emphasis on those that can be useful for Lyme. We will talk about, and hopefully find, herbs for creating herbal repellents and for basic Lyme first aid.

Carol Jacobs is an 'Herbalist Educatorus' from the Driftless Region ( SE Minnesota- SW Wisconsin – NE Iowa) and the author of 'The Lymelighters' Cafe', her new self-published book about Lyme, nutrition, and herbal supports for coping with Lyme. Carol delights in offering educational activities for adults & children for various groups & events. She’s a lifelong student of the plants & a graduate of the Rocky Mountain Center for Botanical Studies. She loves to play in the kitchen & have those Wild Tea Parties, after many years of working in the Woodlands & on the Prairies of the Upper Midwest.

Class participants will be able to buy Carol's book, 'The Lymelighters' Cafe', for $5 off list price.

Dalman's Evergreens is a small, family-owned and run garden and landscaping center in the N.W. corner of Crystal Lake. We'll be meeting in their charming retail store.

Please consider bringing some food or drink to share towards the end of our meeting. We'll provide the paper goods. Good food makes any meeting better!

Was very surprised to learn the percent of the population who may have been exposed to lyme disease. The plant walk was also very informative.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
