June & July meetings; listing of free summer events

Hello book groupies,

Our next meeting will be Monday, June 25 at Austin Steak & Ale House, 82-70 Austin Street, Kew Gardens [masked]). It’s a 15-20 minute walk from the Kew Gardens/Union Turnpike subway stop and is very close to the Kew Gardens LIRR station. We’ll be discussing Through the Children’s Gate by Adam Gopnik. You can sign up at:

Although RSVPs are not yet open for July, note that we’ll be talking about Trespass by Rose Tremain on July 25. Location to be determined.

If you read our last book, The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, but were unable to attend the discussion you can see the questions here: You will also find a non-literary document I’ve posted just for a fun: a listing of many (but certainly not all) free summer events in NYC. I hope everyone can attend at least a few!

As always, I am happy to hear your book and restaurant suggestions.

Karen, FH Book Group Organizer
