A group for those who have left fundamentalist Christianity. Whether you are still in the faith, have left the faith, or are considering leaving, this group is to encourage and support each other in the deprogramming process of fundamentalist - and/or evangelical - beliefs.
We ALL welcome you! We are striving to create a healthy community for those who have survived the more extreme theologies of religion. Some gatherings have specific themes, but all gatherings thus far have been an opportunity to meet people from similar backgrounds. Regardless of the topics at hand, you are welcome to just listen or share your own stories. You are welcome to suggest your own ideas for future gatherings. At the very least, we are here to let you know that you are not alone.
We are a diverse group of former and present Baptists, Assembly of God, Foursquare, conservative Lutherans and Catholics, Evangelical Free, non-denominational, Campus Crusaders, etc. We've attended mega-churches, country churches, home churches, seminaries, revivals, cults and progressive churches. We are less-conservative-than-we-used-to-be Believers, progressive Believers, Deists, agnostics, skeptics and atheists. We've been baptized by immersion, baptized by the Holy Spirit, sprinkled and confirmed. We have decided something about our past experience with religion and personal spirituality needed to change. We are learning from and encouraging each other throughout this change.
If you come from any religious background, whether Islam, Judaism, Catholicism, Mormonism, Lutheran - you name it - and feel that you could benefit from meeting with people who have experienced leaving hard-core belief behind, please feel free to join or email me.
