Have you ever said “I can’t draw” or do you want to take your drawing to the next level?

The Art Room is running an enjoyable, stimulating and challenging seven week drawing class, aimed at all levels from complete beginners to more experienced. By exploring the fundamental elements of drawing, students will learn to interpret and accurately represent what they observe in front of them, and to build confidence in their ability. Each week students will be working with a variety of props and arrangements creating interesting, dynamic and challenging drawings. A life model will be used in one class to allow the students to work with the human figure.

The Art Room is an art class and workshop studio space located at the historic Dockland Cotton Mill’s in Footscray. The Art Room offers a range of challenging, stimulating and enjoyable classes, workshops and mentoring, tailored to adults of all abilities and experience in a supportive and creative studio environment. The emphasis is on building confidence, technique, exploration of materials and concepts and an ongoing focus on the development of the students individual work and ideas.

The Art Room is YOUR studio! With lots of lovely natural light and loads of space to spread out in, the Art Room is a wonderfully inspiring space to create in. It has a lounge and library space to relax and look through some wonderful art books and magazines to inspire you and a tea room with coffee machine. It is a place to come and learn but to also come and connect with like minded people. The Art Room has also been designed with the intention to transform into an exhibition and project space when not being used as The Art Room so there are some exciting things in the pipeline for the year ahead, so stay tuned!

The Art Room is both an alternative and support to traditional art education and provides students with the opportunity to learn from teachers that are well respected, experienced professional contemporary artists that are also generous and passionate teachers. As well as the regular classes there are a variety of interesting and stimulating workshops and classes throughout the year.
