December/January Book Club: Rainbow's End by Vernor Vinge

Hi all, This month since we have Christmas and New Year's we will do our next book club January 5th, 2014 so everyone can enjoy their holidays!

Our next book (inspired by conversations at our last book club gathering) is Rainbow's End by Vernor Vinge:

Robert Gu is a recovering Alzheimer's patient. The world that he remembers was much as we know it today. Now, as he regains his faculties through a cure developed during the years of his near-fatal decline, he discovers that the world has changed and so has his place in it. He was a world-renowned poet. Now he is seventy-five years old, though by a medical miracle he looks much younger, and he's starting over, for the first time unsure of his poetic gifts. Living with his son's family, he has no choice but to learn how to cope with a new information age in which the virtual and the real are a seamless continuum, layers of reality built on digital views seen by a single person or millions, depending on your choice...

Bad accident on 270. If anyone is still going (Kevin?) I'll be ten minutes late.

Hi all, I won't be there today. The weather isn't the best and I know sidewalks and parking lots are slippery even if roads are okay. Stephen, can you still make it to host? Or does the collective want to postpone due to weather?

I'll be there, it looks better today than it did on Friday... If others don't feel safe out there today though, I completely understand that decision.

Cool, thanks. If others are uncomfortable, let us know. Otherwise, everyone enjoy the evening!

Hi all, I won't be able to attend this, but as we talked at our last meeting, Stephen will help lead the discussion. I hope all of you have enjoyed the book!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
