Workshop: Building an accessible call-to-action feature with CSS

You're serious about gaining RSS subscribers, increasing sales volume, and building email lists, so why make it hard for your website users to accomplish simple tasks? In this workshop (bring your laptop), we'll be building a featured area for your blog (or any website) that will call focus on your tasks, tip more people into your sales funnels, and still remain accessible to those using assistive technologies or mobile devices.

So as not to alienate anyone, this workshop will contain something for all levels of HTML and CSS expertise. Novices will learn about keeping it simple with semantic HTML, and more advanced web coders might learn about the pros and cons of the different image replacement techniques. Everyone will find something of value, even if it's just a new way of looking at marketing, sales, and customer decision processes.

Any chance I get to connect with other people and chat about web standards, I'll have a good time. We had some good conversations, some interactivity, and I learned a few things too. There are a whole lot of very smart and talented people who attend these things. Thanks, Kevin!

This Meetup was really great! The members are very friendly and I learned techniques to help me become a better web designer. The information about CSS box models and reseting style sheets was very useful.

Learned a lot beyond the call-to-action feature itself. So many spin-off discussions could be had, tough to cram it into a single discussion. Walked away with a lot of great links/web resources that I never knew about. Awesome.

Michael did a great job of not only building and css based call-to-action feature but he also did a great job of keeping the session interactive. There was a bits of information in his presentation for everyone. I enjoyed his presentation very much.

Learned a super lot and the people in the group are beyond knowledgeable. My only concern is that I wish it where closer to me, but definitely worth the trip. Thx
