October Presentation "Why We Believe in Gods" by Dr. Andy Thompson

Topic: Why We Believe in Gods. This presentation will explore the cognitive and evolutionary basis of religious faith. Speaker: J. Anderson Thomson, Jr., M.D. (Andy) is a trustee for the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science and a psychiatrist in private practice in Charlottesville, Virginia. He is also a staff psychiatrist in the University of Virginia Student Health Services as well as serving as Assistant Director for U. Va.’s Institute for Law. Psychiatry and Public Policy. Dr. Thomson’s private practice includes individual psychotherapy, forensic psychiatry and medication consultation. Among his numerous publications is a book published in 2011 with Claire Aukofer, Why We Believe in God (s): A Concise Guide to the Science of Faith.
