NOTE: This second weekend is being scheduled in case of rain-out the first weekend, or in case we need the second weekend to finish up the project. Sign up for one or both. If not needed, the second weekend may turn into a hike on the Pow Wow Trail!

Come to the Gateway to the Boundary Waters and the Beautiful Wilderness that is Northern Minnesota! Join us in helping to enhance a Landmark to the Boundary Waters. The historical Stony River Café, owned by Tom and Liz Pearson shown above, has been a favorite destination to many of us traveling to the Boundary Waters. Their business has suffered since the 2011 Pagami Creek Fire burned much of the nearby BWCAW including the entire Pow Wow Trail. We are looking for Volunteers to help paint the Café to help out Tom and Liz and to maintain its appearance for all to enjoy.

We will leave on Friday later in the afternoon (some may go up 1 day early, car pools will be arranged), camp at the nearby Little Isabella campgrounds overnight, work on Saturday, camp Saturday evening, work Sunday morning and return on Sunday evening. Time permitting, we may also take a hike on the Pow Wow Trail, so bring your hiking gear! See for yourself the effects of the 2011 Pagami Creek fire on this historic trail.

NOTE to non-campers: There is a cabin behind the restaurant where up to 4 people can stay. Indicate your desire to be a cabin sleeper in the comments when you register and pay. First come, first served!

NOTE to people from "up north" - if you are able to come and help for the day on Saturday, you are more than welcome. Please indicate that in the comments below.

Registration of $25.00 is required. Lunch Saturday and Sunday at the Stony River Cafe is included. You will need a tent, thirty degree bag and food items for 2 breakfasts and Saturday evening. If there is interest, we can plan a Saturday evening pot luck meal. And remember your hiking gear!

Last year we completed a make-over of the cabin and did the preparation repair on the Cafe. Come and help us finish this awesome project. Last year we made the Duluth news...perhaps we will again!
