Crew Leader Training and Retreat, November 4 - 7
NOTE - This Meetup is intended for crew and co-leaders who want to improve their outdoor skills and participate in trail committee for 2011 trips. New members who aspire to become co-leaders or volunteers are encouraged to apply, and approval by organizer is required prior to registration.

On behalf of the Boundary Waters Advisory Committee, you are invited to attend a three day weekend training and retreat at the rustic Patten Cabin, at the Adventurous Christians Wilderness Retreat in the Grand Marais, MN area. Departing Thursday, November 4 by carpool in the afternoon and returning on Sunday, November 7 in the evening.
There are several purposes for the retreat.

1. Celebrate 20th anniversary of reopening the Kekekabic Trail by volunteers and the accomplishments of the BWAC this year.
2. Enhance our knowledge on select outdoor topics
3. Set goals for 2010

Here?s a tentative agenda for the event:
11/4/2010 (5pm) ? Depart from Twin Cities
11/4/2010 (10pm) ? Arrive at AC ? settle in
Friday - Hike the Kek, tree and moss identification
Friday night - Sauna and jump in the Bow Lake
Saturday - Map and Compass skills, 2010 accomplishments and needs, setting goals for 2011.
Saturday eve - dinner at Gunflint Lodge wtih the US Forest Service
Saturday 7:30 pm "History of the Gunflint" by Tom Kaffine, and "20th Anniversary of the Kek Reopening," by Martin Kubik
Sunday morning: Review goals, hike
11/7/2010 afternoon ? Head back to Twin Cities

We hope to leave plenty of time for relaxation and fun as well. The Adventurous Christians facility has a fireplace that you can rock-climb on, a sauna, and canoes that we will have at our disposal. You are also welcome to bring your own personal watercraft.

Logistics:

Meals: On our own for Breakfast and Lunch ? Dinner provided by AC
Cost: $75/includes lodging and dinner at the Guflint Lodge on Saturday night
Food: We will either pool food together or bring your own.
Driving: We?ll carpool from the Twin Cities
Facilities: Log cabin has electricity, water in 5 gallon jugs, wood burning stove, out house, no running water, sauna by the lake. Sleeping quarters consist of two bedrooms and two lofts. You will need your own sleeping bag, and gear for day hikes (recommended list will be provided).
NOTE: Pets, tobacco, alcohol: None are allowed at the facility. Please leave MP3 players, iPads, iPods, etc. at home. Bibles are optional.

Participants may be provided with "Leadership for the outdoors," and other outdoor education books to share.
