Friends of Children First Academy is a group for volunteers who wish to provide support to both the Phoenix and Tempe campuses of Children First Academy.
There are currently over 25,000 homeless children in Arizona. Children First Academy is the largest program in the country serving children who come from homeless families. Parents can recover from their struggles with confidence and peace of mind knowing that Children First Academy will walk with them through this recovery, promote dignity, and assist with caring for the children.
Children First Academy was founded in 2008, and is part of the Sequoia Charter schools family. There are fourteen other schools in the organization, which is based in Mesa, Arizona.
Children First Academy has two sites, one in Phoenix and one in Tempe, Arizona. Along with providing a quality education, both campuses provide opportunities for families to receive on-site medical and dental services, clothing and food boxes. Our buses travel over 450 miles per day. Bus routes change daily to accommodate the frequent living changes of our students. Our schools teach standards-based and data-driven curriculum for all students. Children First Academy in Phoenix is an Expeditionary Learning School.
Please help make a difference! We offer volunteers a variety of opportunities including Classroom Volunteer, Reading Tutor, Clothing Room Organizer, Food Donation Room Organizer, Helping with Building Repairs and Maintenance, Office Assistance and other ongoing needs.
