Francis was diagnosed at age 51 with stage 4 prostate cancer. He recently turned 55.

In the summer of 2010, he & his friend Johnny filmed a full-feature documentary on their efforts to promote screening & early detection of prostate cancer for men in their 40s. (See www.JohnnyGreenlaw.com)

But walking around with a box full of Depends (his brand of choice) & a fist full of flyers was just a small part of the story.

Francis decided to hit the streets & offer to help anyone who would agree to "pass it forward." (He doesn't like the phrase "pay it forward.") Naturally drawn to artsy types, he unwittingly created a small & very special community of people who cared about helping others.

That film, "Finding Francis," follows Francis around Manhattan starting in April, 2010, all the way to Ground Zero on September 11, 2010, when he made headlines as a peace advocate leading a small group offering free hugs while he held aloft his very own artwork: a large yellow & red sign that simply says, "LOVE." It's pictured in the profile photo above.

That film, titled "Finding Francis," won first place documentary at the New York International Film Festival (2011). That film also created the beginnings of a group which has blossomed into this:
Friends of Francis.

We seek to provide education & support for anyone who has an interest in such things as:
--integrative medicine, holistic wellness, stress management;
--nutrition, weight loss, diabetes, cancer & related issues;
--documentary film-making,
--art & music therapies, Native American shamanic ceremonies;
--domestic violence & spousal abuse;
--the American medical & pharmaceutical industries;
--energy-based techniques such as Reiki & tapping, A Course In Miracles, forgiveness, inner peace, and ....
--other things that may seem to add to an already odd mix but interconnect in special ways only Francis & his friends could connect them.

Join us for talent shows put on by group members; workshops with hands-on cooking & juicing demonstrations; special guest speakers on topics mentioned above; movie nights, food, fun, & participation in the making of the sequel: "Healing Francis."
