The seasons are changing on Mt.Tam.
Spring is here, and this evening the Sunset over the Pacific is at 7:47pm.

We'll be hiking at a quick pace, just under 5 miles. So bring full hiking gear. Warm layers are a good idea. (See Standard Generic Details under the Discussion Tab/Message Board.)
Bring something to sit on, to eat and to drink while we await the Sunset.

We'll be back to the cars 35 minutes after dark. A small flashlight is a good idea. (No headlamps please, no dogs, no children.) We'll hike in the dark, moonlit woods, for thirty-five minutes (part of Matt Davis Trail).
The hike will start from Pantoll Ranger Station Parking Lot & Campground. Parking fee here is $8.00. We'll meet next to the ATM type parking fee station, which may not be working. (Join the Calif.State Parks Foundation for free parking passes.)
Just before you enter the Pantoll lot there is a right fork in the road. Just beyond it on the right, is a pull-out with a few free parking spaces. Do not park here. The gate will be locked when we return.
We depart at 6:15pm sharp. Please don't be late, plan ahead if you have not been to this trailhead before. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the trailhead from Hwy.101. There will be plenty of open parking spaces.
FMT hikes leave on schedule. It is a half hour drive from 101 just to Pantoll. Leave extra time for traffic. Leave extra, extra time, if you have not been to this Trailhead before. The Google map above is correct. If you have trouble understanding the map, contact me at 510-520-9782.
(Rain cancels)
