Azalea Walk at US National Arboretum

We will meet at the Administration Bldg. Most will be walking with their dogs, but you can bicycle and scooter as well. Park roads are paved, paths are mulched or are mowed grass. Do as much or as little as you want. Azaleas should be beautiful. Bring your camera for great shots of you and your dogs in the azalea gardens, at the koi pond (the koi love the dogs and vice versa), the Japanese garden, and the columns. Wear sunscreen or a hat, also bring water for your dogs and poop bags. You can buy food and snacks on site, but suggest you bring a snack for you and your dogs to enjoy on a break. There is no entrance fee to the arboretum. Following is link to website.

It was a nice day and there were lots of shady spots and benches. Beautiful grounds! Sasha loves being outdoors. Good to see everyone!!

Sirius is already acting freaked out. I think we will stay closer to home today. Y'all have fun and take lots of pictures.

Do we have any weather contingencies? The threat of thunderstorms will keep Sirius at home and George likely with her to provide her comfort if it does storm. What does Tamara's magical weather app say?

We will be meeting at 9:00 am at tables and chairs set up on the north side of the Administration Building. Cathy Cusack and I will be there with our Sams before 9:00 am. Please be there no later than 9:15. One of our walkers is Jennifer Furtano, who walks Emma, a puppy Samoyed, for her owner, Eileen Paul. Jennifer is deaf. She has agreed to spend a few minutes before we start on our walk explaining how she communicates with Emma and her dog and give us some pointers on how to interact with her. Barbara Kannapell, who is deaf as well, and an interpreter, will also be there to interpret and answer questions. We want Jennifer to enjoy the walks as much as we do and this opportunity should help. Our walk will be approximately 2 hours but you can spend as much time as you want at the Arboretum. I recommend you bring a backpack with water for your dogs and perhaps, snacks or even a picnic lunch for yourself. There is a picnic area at the Arboretum.

Sorry, but I won't make it. Between too many other commitments and the pollen getting to me, it's just not in the cards this weekend.

Hopefully George will be coming with me and we will bring both dogs.

Wish I could go; have to be in Syracuse that weekend for the National Weight Pull Championships. Have fun and remember to smell the flowers!
