Basic Wilderness 1st Aid Course

In an effort to encourage our members to obtain Basic Wilderness First Aid certification The Border Route Trail Association and the MN Rovers Outdoors Club have located a qualified instructor who is willing to teach the course for a very reasonable sum. This 16 hour course will run from 9:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday, June 29 th and Sunday, June 30th at SICO, Inc., 7525 Cahill Rd., Edina, MN which has offered the use of their conference room. The class is open to all interested parties for the very reasonable cost of $150/person. Rebates of $40/person are available to current Rover members and to those who have participated in a BRTA trail maintenance trip during 2012 or 2013.

This year’s course will be taught by April Adas, a state of Minnesota Safety Instructor, who holds Instructor certifications also through the National Safety Council, along with MN/DOT Special Transportation Services. She has been a certified instructor for almost 5 years and currently holds a certification in advanced EMT. Her background is in law enforcement. Her courses are a mix of information she have obtained over the years that she has found to be extremely helpful and interesting to the course participants. At the end of the course you will hold a Wilderness First Aid Certification. Listed below are the subjects she will cover during the two day course. She may add or change things as she sees fit once she gets a better feel for the group she will be instructing.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
