Review Wilderness Management Plan

Public Meeting

The Bureau of Land Management is planning a public meeting, 6.30 pm, March 1, to provide an Oregon Badlands Wilderness Management Plan Overview to accept comments and answer questions. The meeting will be open house style, with a short formal presentation from 7. 00 – 7.30 pm.

BLM policy requires that a wilderness management plan be completed for each designated wilderness. The wilderness plan will provide direction to the BLM for managing the Oregon Badlands Wilderness. The BLM is now in what they call the scoping phase of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). This means any comments you have and choose to submit will be used to identify issues and develop alternatives for wilderness management.

BLM welcomes ideas on methods for addressing protection preservation and restoration needs. You are encouraged to attend this meeting. It’s your Wilderness and you can add personally to the plan by commenting on what you think should be implemented for enhancing wilderness values.

There is no need to reply to this to say you are attending or not, but your presence is welcomed.

Give some thought to what you would like to have implemented in our Wilderness – such as the removal of all barbed wire, trailhead improvements, wildlife protection, wildlife guzzler removal, garbage removal and so on.
