Although the last meeting was quite small, apparently is was quite productive as well! Diane reported back that the "three of us...had a very lively discussion about coping...and strategies..." as well as a bit about co-morbidity.
The next meeting will be in a week, on Wed. Dec. 1st at our usual time. There is very good chance that I will be at that meeting, pending more results from tests that I will have by next Monday. I'm sorry that so much depends on whether I make it to meetings or not but my health issues come and go on a daily basis, along with other issues popping up to keep me on my toes![My newest issues deal with an inability to walk up stairs because I have a seriously weak right leg and knee! Cortisone has helped....but not much!] However, test results really affect my overall demeanor and, most times, I simply don't deal with them very well! In any case, I am going to give it the "old college try" to be at the next meeting. The main reason for my attendance deals with issues we, as a group, need to address as we depart this year and enter the next.
One of the things I'd like to cover at the coming meeting is:Besides co-morbidity, what topics would you like to learn about from professionals in the coming year? Please bring your ideas to the meeting so I can make a list of them so that I can start contacting speakers. As far as the subject of co-morbidity is concerned, I will have spoken with Dr. Rosenthal earlier that day about speaking with us again in the coming year. NOTE: PLEASEput some thought into choosing some topics because that is one of our biggest downfalls as a group: we rarely pick topics from week to week. I would like to get away from the week-to-week decisions on this and set up topics weeks in advance.
Our meeting will be at the usual place and will begin promptly at 7pm. The inner doors at the building automatically lock at 7 but if you are late for some reason, please call my cell number.
We encourage those who may be late due to work, or anything that may delay them, to attend the meetings; please don't think that being late should deter you from attending.
Everyone experiences a variety of difficulties with ADD/ADHD. We can learn from each other to develop more fulfilling lives by helping with issues like implementing structure, organization, time management and social skills. Sharing our personal experiences are important tools for those with ADHD/ADD. Our frequent gatherings (weekly) will include useful topics to help lead more productive lives in a friendly group environment. Occasionally, we have Guest Speakers, who present a wealth of information; one such presentation can be seen on an outside website at any time.
This Meetup is always a structured group with open discussions on topics chosen by members from week to week with time enough for both personal issues and questions of any type.
Meetings are held in the Denver Metro area, every other Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm. And even though the meeting begins at 7 sharp, members are encouraged to come, despite being late due to work schedules or other personal commitments. So please join us in a supportive atmosphere for all of your ADD/ADHD needs!
