Mica shift is an amazing technique that creates a 3 dimensional effect in a flat sheet of clay. This effect is created by manipulating the mica flakes in the clay. This technique is credited to Pier Volkus & Mike Bessler. Linda will demonstrate the twisted rope technique & if time permits, the mica shift jelly roll.
SUPPLIES:
Pasta machine, tissue blades, acrylic rod or brayer, cutters (your choice), Premo metallic clays- you can use Premo Pearl Clays also but the mica shift effect is more prominent with metallic clay. Because you will need to have an understanding of how mica works it is not necessary to roll out your clay before hand.
Remember to bring some of your recent work to show off!
We meet from 2:00 to 5:00. The room must be clean and put back together before we leave. We must be out at 5:00.
