Wakanda, the Data Focussed JavaScript Stack

Greg McCarvell of Wakanda is going to walk us through building then deploying a Wakanda-built JS app to a VPS. If you're into server-side JS with tools like Node and npm, you will definitely not want to miss this!

On Wakanda

Server side JavaScript has made an impact in recent years. The Wakanda platform began development in 2008 and takes a decidedly different approach from Node.js in it's implementation. See how this tightly integrated stack including a relational NoSQL Datastore, an industrial grade webserver and client side framework work together to tackle business applications.

Last night we talked about Terminator vision for the Oculus Rift. Today, it became real! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3bq27Rz_Wk

It was my pleasure, and I really appreciated the frank feedback discussion - I was able to gain a lot of value from it to bring to our executive team.

Greg et al. I will have to pass on the Wakanda meetup because I am double booked for two meetups on the 9th. I was , however, able to catch Greg's Wakanda presentation last month at another meetup.
    Regards, all. J.

Thats good, I don't mind the JS part nor you being the presenter :) I think the point is wing made that we need to spread the spectrum across other areas. That night I may be going to another event "the internet of things" event and will not reflect on you or the subject matter.

We're super excited for this event guys! Besides listening about some cool new technologies, we're also ready for a fresh perspective to give to GDG Waterloo. We'll be having a brainstorming session, so come with ideas! Let's hear what YOU guys want to see from us :)

I am looking for feedback of what you would like to see in the presentation. I do an overview of the platform, I can live code a non trivial application, I can integrate a front end (Ember.js, Angular?). If you provide me feedback as to direction and complexity I will try to tailor things. I look forward to meeting you!

I'm going to have to drop this Meetup from my regulars. It's been Javascript for the past 6 times and a 7th is a good indiction of where this is heading.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
