Ben Nevis - Highest Mountain In The UK 27-29 April 2012
Details
Last June we climbed Snowdon the highest mountain in Wales. After that lots of people wanted a bigger challenge, so here it is: Ben Nevis in Scotland, the UK's highest mountain which at 1344 metres is a full 259 metres higher than Snowdon.

Here's our itinerary for the weekend:
Friday 27 April
We'll take the 15:35 Easyjet flight from Stansted to Glasgow. At Glasgow airport a minibus will be waiting to pick us up and drive us to our hostel in the village of Banavie on the edge of Fort William. We should arrive there mid evening and once we've checked in we can go to a nearby pub for some dinner.
Saturday 28 April
After breakfast we'll head to the Ben Nevis Inn at the foot of the mountain. This will be the start and end point of the climb. We'll take the tourist path up the mountain. The track is very well laid out and is rather like a highway to the top of the mountain. All you need to do is put one foot in front of the other until you reach the top. When we reach the top we'll take a short break to admire the view (assuming it's not too cloudy) and take some photos. After that we'll head back down and finish at the Ben Nevis Inn for some well earned food and a drink or two.
In the evening, we'll head back into Fort William and enjoy the local nightlife.
Sunday 29 April
Sunday morning will be a free morning to explore the area around Banavie (if you still have the energy). There are some nice walks along the coast and along Glen Nevis which shouldn't be too hard after the previous day's hike.
After lunch a minibus will come to the hostel between 2pm and 3pm to take us back to Glasgow airport. We should arrive at the airport between 5pm and 6pm. There are 7 flights back to London between 7.30pm and 9:30pm, so there's plenty of choice.
The total cost of the trip is £110. You’ll need to pay the full price when you RSVP to reserve your place. If you don't have Paypal, please contact me and we can arrange another way for you to pay.
The payment is not refundable unless the trip is cancelled or re-scheduled. If you need to drop out, you can sell your place to another member.
The price includes:
Minibus transfers between Glasgow Airport and Banavie. 2 nights hostel accommodation in single sex dormitories. Breakfast at the hostel Transport between the hostel & Ben Nevis Inn
The price doesn't include:
Flights (you'll need to book these yourself) Lunch & dinner
Flights
You MUST book the same outbound flight as everyone else as the minibus will not wait for later arrivals. We're flying on the Easyjet flight from Stansted at 15:35.
You have a choice of return flights on Sunday evening. To guarantee that you get to the airport in time for your flight, don't book anything before 19:30.
The price of a return flight is currently around £75. This will go up, so I'd advise booking your flight as soon as possible. Remember that you can take a different airline on the outbound and return flights.
IMPORTANT!!
Whilst Ben Nevis is not the most difficult mountain, it does require a certain degree of fitness. Please only attend this trip if you are at least moderately fit and free from any medical conditions or injuries that would make it difficult to reach the summit or to stay with the group.
By taking part in this trip you agree to be responsible for your own safety, health and well-being during the trip and to avoid doing anything that could put yourself or the rest of the group at risk. In particular you agree to remain with the group on the path whilst climbing and descending the mountain and to stay well clear of the sharp drops at the summit.
Please be aware that any outdoor activity presents risk of personal injury or even death. By RSVPing YES to attend this trip you confirm that you accept these risks and that you agree to abide by the above rules.
