This is a really great hike for all levels. If everyone's in a good place for the start, we might go up the Rising Sun Trail first, then down to Tropical Terrace and the uins of the Roberts House. That house was built in the 1960s, and burned in 1982. There are exotic plants, lovely pools, a 30 foot waterfall, and a hidden statue of the Virgin Mary just before you cross the creek heading into the ruins. This is really a fun place to explore!
You can carefully scramble up the rocks on an extremely steep trail to get above the waterfall to a number of lovely pools. The return route is a pleasant shady service road that runs parallel to the stream.
OR - you can head for a longer hike and do the Deer Valley Loop trail, adding another 4+ miles to your cardio for the day ... but worth it for the views!

Trailhead: Head north on Pacific Coast Highway. Corral Canyon Road is 1.2 miles north of Malibu Canyon Road. There is a 76 station on the corner. Turn right and go for about 250 yards. Turn left into the park, but do not park here. There is a parking lot further back at the trailhead. Drive carefully (noted because there is a one-lane bridge to cross) back tot he parking lot and find a spot. In the past, we have parked double, so look for me and I'll direct you. There is zero cell service in the canyon, but you'll find me (I promise).
Hope to see you there!
