The Thames path, Richmond to Putney bridge

This beautiful riverside walk takes us from Richmond station, we will climb Richmond hill for fine views along the River, we drop to the river and continue past Syon Park,  Kew Gardens and the National Archive before passing the rowing clubs to finish with a beer at Putney bridge.

Meeting point, Richmond Railway Station, outside the main entrance.

Cost, £3 organiser fee.

Details, 16km 10m a flat walk on easy wide paths.

Starting at Richmond station, we will climb up to Richmond hill with it's rows of Georgian mansions, here we have fine views over the Thames as far south as Hampton court and Windsor castle. 

We walk through the historically listed Terrace Gardens to meet the Thames we pass Richmond possibly one of the finest riverside views in London.


We pick up the tow path and pass by Syon Park, once home to the Dukes of Northumberland and onto Kew Gardens and Kew Green.

After Kew Bridge we pass the National Archives, this stretch of river is home to rowing clubs and we will see numerous boat houses.

A shaded waterside walk takes us all the way to Putney playing fields where we will stop for a drink before taking the train home from Putney Bridge Station.
