Gusto Tastings - Executive Chef of Wine Arts and Resident Sommelier at Driftwood Estate Winery has prepared an exclusive educational program in basic techniques to evaluate wine & food pairings.
-Basic Technical Sensory Evaluation of Wine
-Five Wines and Seven Foods Pairing Evaluation
-Prize for Raffle Winner What to Expect?
As mentioned above, the Chef Sommelier will go into details of wine tasting and technical sensory evaluation of wine, take it as a Wine 101. The introductory Wine & Food Pairing lesson is to determine which wines and foods make good pairings, paying special attention to the interactions of their various components - do *note* that these are simple food items, and not courses.
The items may be raw, simple and natural ingredients that will give the taster a vision of how it works or why it doesn't work with the wine. This will clearly reveal the relationship between the composition of the wine and the ingredients in a dish, so to speak.
The wines: We will be tasting one wine to be discussed during Sensory Evaluation, and then we will be tasting five different varietal wines, produced by Driftwood Estate Winery, including current and Library wines [no longer available for sale] For the purpose of this tasting, the wines can be substituted by wines with similar characteristics and styles.
The topics covered in this class as well as the tasting component are interactive and hands-on that will provide you with a real understanding of the subject that you will be able to use again and again. Our goal is to share what we know with those who love wine and just want to know more about it. Our approach to wine education is professional and will leave you wanting to know more. We look forward to the opportunity to share our wine knowledge with you.
There is limited seating, so RSVP early! Class will last about 2 1/2 hours. You can stay and bring a picnic for after class to enjoy with the unsurpassed scenery!
