We’re very excited to launch the Galway Data meetup on the February 3rd with our keynote speaker, Michael Hausenblas, (https://www.mapr.com/blog/author/michael-hausenblas) Chief Data Engineer, EMEA, for MapR (https://www.mapr.com) (the provider of top ranked Hadoop-based analytics software). Come and join us for an evening of pizza, drinks and big data talks and discussions focused around hot big data analytics technologies: Spark, Kafka, Cassandra and more.

• 6:45pm: Giovanni Tumarello (http://www.g1o.net): Real Time data and document analytics powered by Knowledge Graph and Big Search, and yes we're cooking it in Galway
Giovanni is CEO of Sindice (http://sindicetech.com) LTD (and Siren Solutions (http://siren.solutions)) a Galway startup with with deep expertise in open source search, big data processing and Knowledge Graphs. He has 25 years of IT engineering experience and 15 years specifically in knowledge management and leading of teams in innovative projects.
Talks
• 7:00pm: Michael Hausenblas (https://www.mapr.com/blog/author/michael-hausenblas): Lambda Architecture with Apache Spark
Michael is Chief Data Engineer, EMEA, for MapR, where he helps people tap the potential of Big Data by bridging the technical (architecture, scalability, etc.) and the business side (RoI, TCO, etc.). His background is in large-scale data integration, the Internet of Things, and Web applications and he's experienced in advocacy and standardization (World Wide Web Consortium). Michael's sharing his experience with the Lambda Architecture, distributed systems and polyglot persistence through blog posts and public speaking engagements and is a contributor to Apache Drill.
• 7:30pm: Maciej Dabrowski (http://www.altocloud.com/team): Scalable real-time analytics using Apache stack
Maciej is Chief Data Scientist for Altocloud where he leads the development of Altocloud's scalable analytics platform focusing on maximisation of the value of big data. His background is in Data Mining and large-scale data processing and he has many years of experience as a data engineer and research scientist. Maciej also holds a PhD in Decision Support Systems from National University of Ireland, Galway.
