Hello, and welcome to the new site for Gamescape North's Game Designers Guild!
We are a diverse group of gamers that all have two things in common, a love of board games, and the desire to go beyond just playing them. The Guild meetings are a place where local designers can playtest game prototypes, meet-n-greet each other, and discuss any or all aspects of board game design and manufacture. Everyone is welcome, whether you have your own game prototype, an idea for a game, or just want to get a behind-the-scenes look at the different processes of design and production. You don't need to be a member of this Meetup group to join the Game Designer's Guild, but it will help us keep you informed.
Founded in November, 2011, we meet every month at the local game store in San Rafael, Gamescape North. Currently on the second or third Sunday, from 2 to 6 PM.
Each meeting begins with a group discussion of a topic related to board game design, from the theory of fun, to the means of game production. We all have different experiences, so lets learn from each other! Then the meat of the meetings is a round of scheduled playtests, where participants get the chance to play one of several pre-selected prototypes, followed by discussions and feedback for the respective designers.
If you would like to submit a prototype to be scheduled for playtesting at a future GDG meeting, please contact our Guild hosts, Greg Powers and Brian Powers, who keep track of participants and what games are being playtested at a given meeting. Scheduling priority is based on previous member participation.
We can help each other to create the future of Board Games!
