• Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition

http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/2/d/b/600_443621691.jpeg

(GM) Reilly Smith: "Athas’ savage, primal landscape is the result of long centuries of ecological and magical abuses. The world is dying. It breathes its last gasps as water turns to silt, grasslands become sandy wastes, and jungles decay into stony barrens. Still, life finds ways to endure even in these hellish conditions. Thousands of years of reckless spellcasting and epic wars have pushed Athas to the verge of an ecological collapse. From the first moments of dawn until the last twinkling of dusk, the sun brings temperatures up to 150°. Water is scarce, so most Athasians need to come up with alternative solutions for dealing with the heat or perish.

Children growing up beneath the scorching sun don’t aspire to become heroes. True heroes who champion causes or try to make the world a better place are as rare as steel on Athas. Living to see the next dawn is more important than defending a set of beliefs, so survival ultimately motivates all living creatures—not virtue or righteousness. Athas puts the survival of the fittest concept to its fullest. Those who cannot adapt to endure the tyrannical sorcerer‐kings, the unrelenting sun, or the many dangers of the wastes will certainly perish. Illiteracy and slavery are commonplace, while magic is feared and hated. The term “hero” has a very different meaning on Athas.
Today, Athas rushes toward its future. If the course of destruction is to be diverted, if Athas is to be restored, then heroes must grab the reins of destiny and give new hope and promise to the world. It will not be easy. In fact, it will be extremely difficult. But it is possible. The denizens of the Tablelands have suffered under oppression for thousands of years, and now, a boiling point has been reached. Perhaps not today, perhaps not tomorrow, but someday, change will come.

The Tsar's Angel
Alex Stone (GM): Players will be enlisted crew members of the Russian cruiser Almaz, part of Imperial Russia's glorious Baltic Fleet. You have spent seven months at sea moving from the Baltic sea to near the recently captured Port Arthur. The Japanese Imperial Navy is nearby and will clearly try and stop the fleet from reaching Vladivostok and resupplying. As you approach Tsushima Strait, you notice that your ship has left the fleet and been ordered to perform a solo operation out in the Sea of Japan. I will be bringing a stack of character sheets, for when people inevitably die/go insane and need a new character.

• World of Darkness

Corinne Soltis (ST): No one knows how or why the zombie apocalypse happened and you and your closest friends don't care. All you know is that you took a vote and you've decided to believe sketchy Internet rumor of a secret bunker under Disneyland in CA with enough food and supplies to support the top 30 Disney executives for 5 years, or would have if they hadn't been eaten on live TV a month ago. There's a 22 hour drive between you and possible safety in the happiest place on earth...or you might be eaten by the nearly one billion zombies roaming the USA, or maybe one of the new creatures reported on the news before everything went dark. Either way, it's time to pack and go on the worst road trip of your lives.

• Iron Kingdoms

The Longest Night
Daniel Ellison (GM): In 602 AR, four years before the occupation of Llael by Khador. The city of Corvis celebrates the with revelry, costumes and merrymaking, but in the Widowers Wood the dead begin to rise. The players will have to survive the night as the walking dead of all stripes invade the city, drawn to the gleaming Cathedral of Morrow, and chaos envelopes the city. Expect a fast moving and bloody game as you recreate one of the great horrors in the recent history of the Iron Kingdoms.

• Valor

http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/0/4/d/600_443621037.jpeg

(GM) Austin MacKenzie: A brand new tabletop experience, Valor offers high levels of character customization and dramatic, active roleplay. Extreme Adventures is a monthly feature of fun one-shot sessions. We'll be featuring Valorous Chef, the first Extreme Adventure column that has players hunt down ingredients and cook them, besting rival chefs in the process.

Geode
(GM) Robert James: "Robert James will be taking over for Joey Turco from now on for the Geode Campaign. Joey will be coaching Robert on what is happening in the world of Geode, and leaving the smaller details up to Rob. Geode is a self-contained city within a sphere. The buildings are on the inside and they grow toward the center with gravity "pushing" toward the outer edge. (Think sigil from Planescape). The world is very sandbox like with many things to explore and many genres to enjoy.

Game will be from 6pm to 10pm
