Gangplank RVA: UX Series: Logos - Designing a memorable brand identity

What: UX Series: Logos - Designing a memorable brand identity

Its easy enough to download clip art or stock images, add your business name and call it your logo. But what does it really take to make a successful logo?

Have you ever wondered about difference between a brand, logo and icon?
Do you want to learn about what it takes to make a logo memorable?

I will cover these questions and more. In this installment of our UX Series we will talk about the importance of a logo, it's components - fonts, styles, colors, as well as design tips and pitfalls. We'll also look at some of the most successful and recognizable logos and discuss why they survive while others fade away.

Plus, you will have an opportunity to rapidly design and improve your logo.

This UX Series is facilitated by RVA Gangplanker Ben Orejana.

Ben Orejana has served as the primary expert and Agile evangelist for User-Centered Design initiatives for many companies. With a background in design & communications and his expertise in usability and information architecture, he leads dynamic teams of engineers in designing and developing compelling user experiences.

Ben has consulted such companies as Capital One, Royal Bank of Scotland, JP Morgan Chase, Barclays Capital, Merrill Lynch, National Life, SecondMarket, Moody’s, SAC Capital, FreshDirect, Wyeth, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and Wells Fargo in areas of Agile Implementation, Information Architecture, User eXperience and system design.

My only complaint is with people who RSVP that they're coming and then don't show up. Please don't take a spot if you're not going to use it.

Great job Ben. Really got me thinking about how I approach logo design for my businesses and when I need to call in a professional to help me out. I also came up with several logo ideas for a new project.

Thanks to all that attended. I hope you had as much fun in attending as I did presenting. Lots of insightful conversations around logos and branding. Nathan made a great point about audio/jingles being a big part of a successful brand. So what's next? Can smell be part of a brand?

    Hi all.

Looks like we are "full" -- so if you signed up and cannot make it, please let it go so people on the waitlist can make it!

    Looking forward to this.
