Maha Shivaratri

Details

This is the annual celebration of Shiva--Universal Consciousness, called Shiva Ratri. Shiva is the personification of Consciousness, a unitary concept. Therefore, the symbol is the yoni lingham, a joining of the male and female genitalia. In Tibetan Buddhism the same concept, for the Kalachakra, the God and Goddess of Time is a male and female image in conjugal embrace. Kala means time, and so does Kali.

The event will be group chanting of Shiva mantras and a short Shiva Puja.

We will offer our abhisheka for the puja to the beautiful Ganges stone lingham donated by Josefina Polanco, one of our Mantra Teacher students.

We will sing bhajans from our Temple song book, do the puja, then share prasad and snacks.

Please bring non-alcohol veggie food (no wheat please.)

IF YOU CANNOT BE WITH US IN PERSON, YOU CAN RSVP WITH YOUR DONATION, AND YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED IN THE PUJA, AND ITS BLESSINGS WILL BE SENT TO YOU.

Please pay with your RSVP. If you want to send a check instead, please make it out to Sanatana Dharma Satsang and mail it to 3300 NW 185th Ave, 92, Portland, OR 97229 (not to the temple address which is not secure.)
