I love to read -- pretty much anything, although I've been on a British-classic-fiction-1700-to-1900 kick for the last couple of months. My favorite genre of anything is science fiction, because why just do political drama when you can do political drama with lasers? I watch way too much TV and I've found I can become obsessed with literally any show if I try hard enough, although the Star Trek franchise is my forever girl. I recently quit World of Warcraft cold turkey (new job, no time) and I'm trying to get back into comics again after being without them -- at least in English -- while I lived in Korea. I was mostly a Marvel girl, although my absolute favorite series were always the independents, like Y: The Last Man and Invincible.
Author: Charlotte Brontë; book: The Left Hand of Darkness; movie: The Mummy (I know, I know); game: World of Warcraft (classic).
For some reason, the only person who comes immediately to mind is Kathryn Janeway.
Someplace where I can hear you guys talk -- divey bars, cheap restaurants, comic book stores, move theaters followed by dinner, etc.
I made a perfect score on the writing section of the GRE and I was in the 99th percentile of the verbal on both the SAT and the GRE. (I'm super proud of that and I never get to slip it into conversation. Don't judge me.) No matter where I work, people ask me English questions. Even when I was an English teacher surrounded by other English teachers, everyone asked me English questions. By the way, it should shock you to your core how many professional English teachers have COMPLETELY APPALLING GRAMMAR.
I'm 25 and just moved to Chicago. For some reason, I've always had lady friends and geek friends, but rarely both. Looking forward to meeting you guys!
