Learn to weld! Introduction to MIG welding for hot-glue gun users

This is for any DIY person who can work a hot-glue gun and are ready to move to metal work with a basic wire-feed or MIG (mixed inert gas) welder. This is the former 101 and 102 classes combined with hands-on and toy to take home.

Cost is $45+$10 materials fee for non-monthly subscribing members, or $10 materials fee for Geekspace Gwinnett paid subscription members. For membership info, consult the bottom of this posting. During this 3.5-4 hour class we speak about the different types of consumer welding (MIG, TIG, Arc), focusing on the easiest style which is wire-fed MIG, amperage vs voltage, temperature vs wire-flow, proper speed and flow techniques, penetration vs burn through, 110v vs 220v, consumer vs professional, and so on. The point of this class is to get you comfortable and secure enough to get hands on creative experience, then ready for custom fabrication and art creation in later classes. Students will feel safe enough to start shopping after the class for a welder and supplies, or to rent one for their projects. This class is hands on where students will have their own created object to take home. Spots are limited by number of student to each welder. This is basic steel welding for hobbyists. The only prior understanding needed, is how to fill gaps and adhere plastic and paper together with a hot glue gun. Previous understanding of electronics is nice, but not needed.

Required supplies and apparel if you want hands-on time: Closed-toe shoes (no flops), long pants (no shorts), long sleeve cotton shirt or jacket that can take small sparks, open mind, open ears, comfy shoes, cash or paypal for payments

Useful supplies to bring (NOT NECESSARY, only a suggestion) You can bring notepad and writing device, Gellin insoles are awesome, leather gloves of any thickness (I use thin goat-skin when micro welding), and/or something to drink.
