July Meetup: Geo Data Formats

Details
CHANGE OF DATE! Due to the holiday, we're going to meet early this month so that folks who are leaving town won't have to miss the meetup! See you Monday, July 1!
In July we'll be talking about different geodata formats-- what they do and how they are used. We're still pulling together our line up, but so far we've confirmed that we'll hear from:
Andrew Turner (https://twitter.com/ajturner) of Esri will give a introductory tour through the landscape of the Geodata fields and a few tools to make them manageable and usable. John Firebaugh (https://twitter.com/jfire) of MapBox will talk to us about the "JSON" and the "Geo" in GeoJSON, look at few pretty pictures of datasets that are already available as GeoJSON, and show ways of converting, publishing and editing your data in the format. Ben Balter (https://twitter.com/benbalter) of GitHub will demonstrate how GitHub's recent support for geoJSON lets you go from data to map in mere seconds and what collaborative, open source mapping could mean for the geo community.
We'll meet at 7:00 pm at the upstairs bar at Stetsons at the intersection of 16th and U Streets NW. Introductions and lightning talks will start at 7:30 pm. Presentations will be followed by lots of time for questions, follow up, networking, and beers
Stetsons is a 21 and over venue. If you're not yet 21 but want to attend, message us via meetup and we'll do our best to get you in.
GeoDC meets on the first Wednesday of the month to socialize, network, and hear about the work people are doing with maps, GIS, geodata, and more. Join this meetup group, follow @Geo_DC (https://twitter.com/geo_dc) on Twitter, and join our Google group (https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/geonerds-dc) for updates.
Do you have something to say about geodata formats? Let us know! We're still looking for speakers, so message us and let us know what you'd like to share.
