Tejas Pande on Urban Poverty and Mobility

Details
This edition of GeoBLR will feature information design expert Tejas Pande. Tejas will speak about his work around urban poverty and mobility through maps!
Qualitative information is always a little tricky to work with and visualize, especially in data-poor contexts where there is little else to draw upon. During a survey of urban poverty (2010) in Bangalore, we had written up several case studies about the daily lives of those living in the slums of Bangalore. We emphasized on people's commuting needs, and needed visual representations that remained true to their experience.
Tejas Pande works for the Urban Development program at EMBARQ (http://www.wri.org/our-work/project/embarq). He takes a keen interest in information design. His role mainly encompasses illustrating research ideas into engaging visuals. He loves to elucidate the bottom-line of any argument with the natural flair of a mean-spirited host of a reality TV program.
