January Meetup-- UX for Mapping

Happy New Year! For our first meetup of the year we'll be talking about maps and the user experience. We'll have three speakers give five minute lightning talks on UX:

AJ Ashton (http://developmentseed.org/team/aj-ashton/) from Development Seed will talk about some of the elements of user experience that are important to consider when designing maps and mapping applications. He'll show examples of intuitive navigation interfaces, simple and attractive design, and ways to keep a map consistent with itself and common user expectations. Tim Deegan (http://www.forumone.com/users/tim-deegan) from Forum One Communications will be looking at past and present maps and what makes them usable-- or not. Andy Chosak (http://greatergreaterwashington.org/post/12939/transit-near-me-shows-your-transit-choices/) from Mobility Lab will talk to us about Transit Near Me (http://transitnearme.com/) The meetup starts at 7:00 pm, with presentations beginning at 7:30 pm, and we'll be at the upstairs bar at Stetson's.

These meetups happen once a month, on the first Wednesday of the month. The next meetup will be on February 1 and will be on slum mapping.

Please note: This month we'll be meeting a week later than usual in order to give you a chance to get back into town and so that we can follow UXCampDC (http://uxcampdc2012.eventbrite.com/).
