Greetings friends -

Welcome to Georgia Outdoor Stewards!

My name if Bryan and I am the Membership Director at the Georgia Conservancy - one of the founding groups for Georgia Outdoor Stewards.

Thank you so much for being interested in our group! Today kinda snuck up on us - so please be patient as we line up our full schedule of events for 2012 and get our Adventure Team together.

I never expected we would have 50 members within the first few hours.

Below is the email that will now be automatically generated when someone joins. Sorry it wasn't ready for you!

If you have any questions, suggestions, ideas or complaints - please reach out to us.

Thanks for being part of the first 50! (And thanks to our community partners who are committed to making this work. We can't do this alone!)

Welcome to Georgia Outdoor Stewards!

Georgia Outdoor Stewards (GOS) is a meetup group started by the Georgia Conservancy and sponsored by REI. The idea is to give nonprofits, clubs and community groups a place to host hikes, camp outs, paddles, or bike rides that have a stewardship focus - while providing the public with a "one stop shop" for stewardship adventures!

What does "stewardship" mean? Stewardship events must be expressly designed to promote outdoor volunteerism, remove barriers to outdoor access for diverse communities, or encourage environmental protection. Our best events have elements of all three!

As an added bonus for groups using this resource, nonprofits, clubs and community groups that use Georgia Outdoor Stewards have access the Georgia Conservancy's gear bank of camping equipment - plus video equipment to help capture and share the story.

We also want to make a commitment to you. We want to be clear on every trip about who is leading the trip, if it is family friendly, explain the difficulty and if we are providing transportation. We also want to be as responsive as possible to any questions you might have.

Here are a few of the groups that will be leading trips through GOS:

Arabian Mountain Heritage Area Alliance

Edge of Night Camping Club

Keeping it WIld

Hartfield's Hikers

Georgia State Parks

Georgia Appalachian Trail Club

Georgia Canoe Association

Georgia Conservancy

Generation Green

Recreation Equipment Incorporated

West Atlanta Watershed Alliance

If you are interested in becoming an organizer and/or posting your stewardship events - please contact me at.

We love Georgia and we love protecting Georgia's natural places event more. We hope you will join us soon!
