How do you Get Your Climb On?

I get my climb on almost exclusively outdoors now, but I have been a gym climber and gym program director at certain phases of my life.

When did you first begin climbing? What is your level? What is your favorite type of climbing? Best place you ever climbed?

I began climbing with my family as a kid and have kept at it off and on for all the years since. I am pretty good at dome and face climbing, which few other people seem to enjoy, but I like many types of climbing. Not very much into bouldering or aid climbing, traditional multipitch is my main form of amusement, but I have a real soft spot for family and beginner level outdoor top roping (since that's how I got into climbing).

What does Safe climbing mean to you?

Safe climbing means doing things well and very safely- tell others where I am going, have a first aid kit with me, make wise choices, and after climbing long enough, accrue some stories of climbs I have backed down off of because it just didn't feel right. Good judgement must me learned in this sport, and I only get through lots of guidance and experience.

By joining GYCO this confirms you accept & assume all responsibility & risks that could occur in climbing that you voluntarily release, forever discharge & agree to not hold harmless GYCO or any of its Organizers from any & all claims while in GYCO.

Introduction

While not from the Bay Area, I really enjoy the people in this group and really enjoy climbing a lot! Glad to be involved, connected, and represent those of us living in the Sierras!

What Tim C. is saying about this Meetup Group

Good bunch of climbers, safe and honorable and mostly devoid of people who flake out. They like to get out everywhere!
