South Mountains State Park is the largest state park in North Carolina. It is located just 65 miles from uptown Charlotte up Hwy 321 just past Lincolnton. This picturesque park is loaded with streams, waterfalls, 45 miles of trails, great woodlands and scenic views.

We'll meet at the parking lot on the end of South Mountains Park Ave.

The hike will go up the trails of Chestnut knob, Sawtooth, Horseridge, Possum, Shinny, Headquarters, Upper Falls, and return downhill on High Shoals Falls. This measures about 12.5 miles.

Bring a Lunch/snacks, and 2 liters of water, This hike should take 7-10 hours depending on breaks and skill level of the attendees.

If you want to carpool, meet at Roses in Belmont (605 Park Street, Belmont. just off I-85 exit 27) at 7:45.

North Charlotte carpool spot is Trader Joes-1820 E Arbors Dr, unless you know a more convenient/accessible location for the area.
