Doughton Park is on the Blue Ridge Park Escarpment and is less than 2 hours from Greensboro and 90 minutes from Winston Salem. It is especially beautiful in late summer when the thistle is blooming and butterflies abound. The Bluff Ridge Trail offers outstanding views.

This is a long hike and only rated strenuous because of the mileage which is between 16 and 18 miles depending on if we take a side trip to Brinegar Cabin.

We will take the Cedar Ridge Trail from Long Bottom Road access to the parkway. At 4.3 miles ,with lots of switchbacks, it is the most challenging part of the hike. We will then hike the Bluff Ridge section which follows the Blue Ridge Parkway for 7.5 miles and down the 5 mile Flat Rock Trail.
