GetHiking! to Welcome the New Year!

What better way to welcome the new year than with a walk in the woods! We'll stay close to home with our New Year's hike (you can sleep in, then get home in time for some football), with a hike at Umstead State Park.
Three hikes, actually:

• 2 miles. Just kicking off your hiking program for 2015 and not keen on an epic outing? This out-and-back to Crabtree Creek on the Company Mill Trail is just the thing. Cross three mild ridges, then hang at the scenic site of the old Company Mill before heading back.
• 6 miles. The entire Company Mill Trail. Hike down to Crabtree Creek, then take the four-mile loop into the heart of Umstead. A hilly route that will make you feel good about getting 2015 off on two right feet (sorta).
• 9 miles. Looking to really up your game in 2015? No better way to greet the year than with a long hike of the Company Mill and loop section of the Sycamore Trail. Clear the lungs, clear your head, clear the way for an epic 2015.
