After looking at different weather forecasts, it appears that Sunday will be a better day to be on the trails than Saturday with rain predicted most of the day. While changing dates often results with folks not being able to go, I believe most of us would rather hike on a sunny day and the trails will have a chance to dry out. Especially when we are a bit weary of dreary days, we crave a shot of the Vitamin D.
Perhaps now, spring has had a chance to appear so we will hike a combination of loop trails that pass spectacular rapids, an old mill site and the remains of 19th century homes. These trails go by the names of Buckquarter Creek, Ridge, Shakori and Holden Mill which will total over 7 miles of moderate climbing. Boots or trail shoes highly recommended and loaner hiking poles will be available. Shorter distances can be hiked just by dropping a loop from the planned circuit.
