Since daytime highs aren't expected to be in the 70s (or '80s or low '90s) anytime soon, we'll take another early hike at Umstead State Park. This hike will be about 4 miles and will be an abbreviated portion of the Sycamore Trail.
We will meet at the Visitor Center, then drive a short distance to the bike & bridle trailhead. We'll pick up the Sycamore Trail (already in progress), do the loop, return. The hike gets us into the heart of the park.
NOTE: The trail is not in the best shape; expect lots of rocks and roots. I'd rate this a moderate hike.
