GetHiking! Falls Lake Trail Sections 9 and 10

Sunday, June 5 at 9am

We will meet at the trail crossing in the Shinleaf Campground at the Falls Lake State Recreation Area and we will hike west on the Falls Lake Trail with our turnaround point being Highway 50. We will take a short break at the turnaround. We will then return eastbound on the same route. This will cover sections 9 and 10 of the Falls Lake Trail. This hike will be a round trip of 7.8 miles at a brisk pace and will be scheduled to complete back at the Shinleaf Campground at 12 noon (three hours). Please plan on carrying all of your water for this hike. Well-behaved dogs are welcome and it is the responsibility of the owner to find out and follow the state park rules.

The hike will leave from the trail crossing in the Shinleaf Campground at 9am. The trail head is between the day hiker parking area and the permit camping area on the main road into the campground. I will be the big guy with the fully loaded blue backpack. I am using this as a backpacking conditioning hike, but participants are not required to do the same. This hike will take place unless there is dangerous weather. I will email the RSVPs my phone number and requested action if you have to cancel.
