GetBackpacking! South Mountains State Park

Join our May GetBackpacking! Intro to Backpacking! crew on their graduation trip to South Mountains State Park (http://www.ncparks.gov/south-mountains-state-park). We have 7 grads taking the trip, meaning we have room for 4 more backpackers.

We'll leave Friday morning, June 24, arrive around 1 at South Mountains and hike 4 miles to our first campsite, the Jacob Branch backcountry campground. Saturday, we'll hike about 7 miles to the Sawtooth backcountry campground. Sunday's hike out is about 3 miles. Friday's hike involve a good deal of climbing; Saturday's is more moderate, mostly along an undulating ridge; Sunday's hike out trends downhill.

You must have your own equipment; some experience is good, but this is a beginner's group, so there's some flexibility. I will be in contact with anyone interested in the trip who I have not hiked with.
