Back by request, we're hitting the local lake instead of our local muggy trails for this summertime outing.
PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BEFORE SIGNING UP.

We are partnering with Frog Hollow Outdoors, an outing company in Durham that is offering us a private paddle for our GetHiking adult members. They will bring the boats, paddles, and required life jackets to a primitive back entrance to Beaverdam Lake. This lake does not allow gas powered boats, so it's a great location for beginner paddles. Because this is hard to find and parking is very limited, we will carpool from the above listed place to the put-in.

Once you sign up, I will send you a link to the registration link where you pay. If you sign up but don't need a boat (ie. you have your own) please make a note in the comment space. Price is $40.00 for a kayak or canoe ($20 a piece). A great bargain to see if you might like to add this sport to your adventures.

We will leisurely paddle about 5 miles round trip to the beaver dam (yes there is one) and take a rest/snack break. There is no instruction offered and all must wear a life jacket. Time on the cruise will be about 4 hours. Unless it is a windy day, 5 miles is doable for beginners. We will stay together as we explore the lake and maybe have a dip.

Please bring plenty of water, sun hat, sunscreen, a snack or lunch and shoes that can get wet. For now we are limited to 20 but this can change.
