Book Study On Alternative Health

We meet the second Saturday of the  monthly 7 pm, at either my home or other members homes. We will alternate the discussion facilitator among various members although no one is required to do so. Bring your favorite snack or drink.

Our current book is The Healing Power of Sound: Recovery from Life-Threatening Illness Using Sound, Voice, and Music by Gaynor, Mitchell L

Our next meet we will be covering chapter three and four. Ray will be facilitating the discussion.

Synopsis Since 1991, Dr. Mitchell Gaynor has been achieving remarkable results by integrating music, vocalization, breathing, and meditation techniques in his work with patients. InThe Healing Power of Sound,he presents his sound-based techniques for self-healing-techniques that anyone can use, whether faced with a life-threatening disease or simply seeking relief from the stresses of daily life. Numerous studies have demonstrated the health benefits of music: it can lower blood pressure and heart and respiratory rates; reduce cardiac complications; increase the immune response; and boost our natural opiates. Gaynor shows how, when integrated as part of a mind-body-spirit approach to wellness, music can play a significant part in maintaining a healthy lifestyle or in healing serious disease. The Healing Power of Soundincludes twelve exercises involving breathing, meditation, and "toning"-using pure vocal sound to resolve tension, release emotion, and spur the healing process-that can be used by anyone to improve health and quality of life.

Thanks so much for letting us know Penelope. I will not be able to attend due to out of state company arriving but would have gone otherwise. Keep us updated of any other upcoming similar events. Thanks and hope you can make it to our next book club meetup even if you did not get the book and read it.

Not sure if you're aware of an event on Friday, June 20. It's a gong immersion at the Birmingham Unitarian church at 38651 Woodward at Lone Pine. Christopher Davis plays gongs for healing. There will also be singing bowls, and didgeridoos played for two hours for the Solstice.

It's going to be outside. Bring a mat if you want one, a blanket, and water. The cost is $25. I went to one of Christopher's gong immersions and it was amazing - a deep meditative experience. This sounds like it will be another amazing experience and well-worth the price.

It was great to get together and discuss the power of sound and vibrational medicine. We had a great discussion even though I have not bought this book

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
