Seamless Disaster Recovery and Unshackling Blockchain

We'll be hosting the 2nd Gibraltar Software Development Community Meetup on the 6th October. The kick off is at 18:00 with 'Including HTTP Sessions in Disaster Recovery' held by Neil Stevenson from Hazelcast then followed by 'Unbound Blockchain Opportunities' by Reza Malik.

Neil will demo a multi-datacenter session replication using Hazelcast and illustrate the concrete scenario of failing over to a Disaster Recovery. In today's high volume markets minutes where a minute of downtime can cost your business tens of thousands in sales, such an event can make or break a good financial quarter as well as impacting internal productivity.

Followed by some time for a refresher, pizza and time to mingle we'll kick off Reza's talk on blockchain. It's a novel approach guaranteeing a consistent database whilst being distributed by maintaining by a continuously-growing list of records called blocks which keep it secure from tampering and revision. We are all aware of the now-ubiquitous Bitcoin that uses blockchain under the cover but the applications in finance and other industries are growing and this is a good opportunity to keep up to date with the latest trends.
