Session #1: Tuesday, Feb 17 @ 6pm - 9pm

Session #2: Wednesday, Feb 18 @ 6pm - 9pm

Dinner will be provided by Pillar on both days.

User experience (UX) encompasses all aspects of people’s interactions with products and services. Regardless of what we’re designing—a website, an iPhone app, or a toaster—we all strive to make our designs useful, easy to use, and enjoyable. But how exactly do we instill and translate these values into our designs? How can we evaluate whether our technologies are meeting our goals? This class will introduce you to the essential techniques to find those answers.

This class is for anyone who makes (or wants to learn to make) websites, mobile apps, or other software. If you’re a developer, designer, project manager, or content creator, you can integrate UX research and design into your practice.

By the end of this class, you’ll learn the following:

• The fundamentals of UX and why it matters.

• An introduction to user research to help you understand your audiences’ values to inform design decisions.

• Basic wireframing and usability testing techniques.

• Working UX into your existing process, even if it’s one small step at a time, and even if you are short on budget, time, or support.

• Recommendations for books, articles, and other resources to explore further areas of UX.
