Getting Started with WordPress

Sept. 20th, 7 pm-9 pm

In this class we will describe the basic functionality WordPress and explain many of the functions available to users in the WordPress admin panel. We will walk you through installing WordPress on a new account as well as the basics for how to create content, change themes, add plugins, modify site settings, and other fundamentals to getting a new site up and running. By the end of this two-hour class, you should have a solid grasp of the basic skills needed to create your own website.

This would be a great class both for those new to using WordPress as a development platform as well as someone managing content on an existing WordPress site.

  • Navigating your dashboard and admin panel
  • Pages & Posts
    • Pages: primary navigation and content
    • Posts: usually used for blog posts, content that is regularly updated or needs datestamps
