Introduction to Javascript/JQuery (4 week class series)

Introduction to Javascript/JQuery

(4 week class series)

Sponsored by Groupon

JavaScript is a the language of interactivity on the web. Ever used Google maps? Clicked on something to make it appear or hide? Seen a slideshow of images? You have used JavaScript!

Learn how to begin creating interactive websites. We will be covering basic Javascript, to the JQuery library, dynamic HTML, JSON and APIs (don't worry this will all make sense by the end of class!)

Because JavaScript interacts with HTML elements, we suggest having a working knowledge of HTML as a pre-requisite for this course.

This 4-class JavaScript course runs on the following schedule:

Wednesday, May 15th from 6:00 - 8:00pm

Course Cost: $90.00

Note: Please provide your full name when registering for this class series for security purposes.

Hey, I was a TA for last night's class and I'm just curious: What does everyone think of the class? Is it helpful? Do you feel like you're learning things? What would make it better?

See you all again next week!

Hey, Kevin! I enjoyed the first week and learned a lot. The pace picked up quite severely the second week. I've been lost since then (by no fault of Whitney or the TAs), perhaps because I didn't make time to do the homework. During week 3, I was less encouraged to try because I felt too far behind. Though the slides are comprehensive, I never feel I have all the information I need to do the "Let's Develop It" portions and often feel as though I missed a slide.

I have found it very helpful to have reference material handy, either to look something up or to see something explained a different way. (I happen to have a copy of Larry Ullman's "Modern Javascript", ...not sure if its better or worse than anything else). So perhaps some suggestions of links for further reading for each class would be helpful. Even if its just something really basic to look up definitions, like http://www.w3schools..... However, for in-class, we just never seem to have a enough time to practice since we are moving so fast. I would consider extending the class time or adding an additional session.

Hey, I won't be able to make it tonight, but I'm assuming if I follow the slides that I won't be too far behind for the third class? PS. The homework was helpful!

Very cool to get started with Javascript! Wouldn't mind getting some "homework" to practice or learn something new before next week.
